چکیده

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Fractional treatment with a dual wavelength 1,064 and 532 nm picosecond-domain laser, delivering a 10 × 10 array of highly focused beamlets via a holographic optic, was investigated for the treatment of acne scars. STUDY Twenty-seven of 31 subjects completed the study, 19 were treated using 1,064 nm and 8 were treated at 532 nm, all having four-monthly treatments. Blinded evaluation of digital images by three physician evaluators comparing pre- and 3-month post-treatment images measured efficacy using a 10-point scale. Subject self-assessment of treatment effects were also recorded. Safety was measured by recording subject discomfort scores and adverse effects. RESULTS Blinded reviewers correctly identified the baseline image in 61 of the 81 image sets (75%), and baseline acne scar scores were 1.8 ± 0.7 and 1.8 ± 0.5 for the 1,064 and 532 nm cohorts, and decreased to 1.1 ± 0.5 (P < 0.001) and 1.1 ± 0.0 (P < 0.005), respectively. Post-treatment erythema, mild edema, and petechiae were the only side effects noted. CONCLUSION The 1,064 and 532 nm picosecond-domain laser incorporating a 10 × 10 holographic beam-splitting handpiece was found to be safe and effective for the treatment of facial acne scars. The treatments were well tolerated and the subjects experienced little to no downtime. Lasers Surg. Med. 49:796-802, 2017. © 2017 The Authors. Subcision for acne scarring with and without suctioning: A clinical trial

Background: Treatment of acne scars is a therapeutic challenge that may require multiple modalities. Subcision is a procedure that has been reported to be beneficial in the treatment of acne scars. Although subcision is a valuable method, its efficacy is mild to moderate due to the high recurrence rate. This study aimed to evaluate the novel complementary treatment of repeated suction sessions ...

Diffractive beam splitter for laser Doppler velocimetry.

A miniaturized sensor head for the optical measurement of velocities of fluids based on laser Doppler velocimetry is demonstrated. Holographic optical elements mounted on a glass substrate are used for beam splitting and deflection. Volume holograms in dichromated gelatin exhibit good optical efficiency (75% transmission of a cascade of two holographic optical elements). With diffractive device...

A 2940 nm fractional photothermolysis laser in the treatment of acne scarring: a pilot study in China.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a 2940 nm fractional photothermolysis laser in the treatment of acne scarring in Chinese people. METHODS Twenty-six patients with moderate-to-severe atrophic scarring were treated with a 2940 nm-wavelength fractional photothermolysis laser. RESULTS All patients had encouraging results. Both skin elasticity and moisture content increased signi...

Design of Photonic Crystal Polarization Splitter on InP Substrate

In this article, we suggested a novel design of polarization splitter based on coupler waveguide on InP substrate at 1.55mm wavelength. Photonic crystal structure is consisted of two dimensional (2D) air holes embedded in InP/InGaAsP material with an effective refractive index of 3.2634 which is arranged in a hexagonal lattice. The photonic band gap (PBG) of this structure is determined using t...

Treatment of lentigines by a novel high power diode laser at 755 nm: a case report

The use of high-power diode laser with a wavelength of 755 nm is an effective and safe method for the correction and partial and/or total elimination of pigmented lesions, specifically solar lentigines. This wavelength has yet not been used in diode lasers to treat solar lentigines. Side effects are the usual ones, including darkening and scab formation. Our patient was a 40-year-old woman of C...
